Project Nursery

I finally pulled the trigger and uploaded the nursery onto Project Nursery. eeeeek

I’m super proud of the way everything turned out.  Serious labor of love but I would do anything in the world for this baby boy.

33 weeks

33 weeks, 1 day
48 days til due date

Thursday we went for an ultrasound and baby was estimated to weigh 4 lbs 8 oz!!! So exciting. He had been running 2 days ahead with growth but now he’s jumped to about a week ahead. His head circumference was 70th percentile. His biparietal diameter was 97th percentile which means he has a very round head. His abdomen was a little small, his femur length right on track and his humerus length a little ahead. He was breathing and moving around and all looked good. So good they are giving us a week off and we’ll do one last ultrasound at 36 weeks. We did discuss delivery a little with the specialist and he said we’ll have to wait and see how baby’s growth continues. He said “my how our problems have changed. At first we were worried baby would come out too easily and now we’re worried he won’t be able to come out. “:) Happy problems indeed.

I was a little concerned Friday night that my water might have broken as I had some increased watery discharge. But it didn’t smell sweet and it didn’t continue. Baby’s been moving since and contractions have not increased or changed. So I’m hoping it’s all normal. I’m keeping an eye on everything.

I’ve been slowly increasing my activity. Nothing major but I help more with chores around the house. Laundry, putting away dishes, putting away groceries, etc. It feels good to be a little more helpful. I know we still have some tricky stuff to get through but it’s so exciting that we’re nearly at 34 weeks (6 days away!) and 35 weeks is less than 2 weeks away.

Tomorrow we’ll have our first shower at E’s work and our big shower is next Sunday. My mom and E’s mom are busy planning and preparing everything.

The forest book came end of last week and I finished the letter and hung it in the nursery.

Here’s the letter which I made from four sheets of cardboard that I cut out with an exacto knife and taped together with masking tape.

Here it is after using mod podge to glue on some of the pictures.

And here’s the finished product:

And in the nursery:

Cross stitching the day by…

32 weeks, 3 days

It’s been a slow week since I’m running out of projects. This one is getting close to being done as well…

I finished californication (yes, the entire series) so I’m running out of tv to watch as well. Need to start a new series but it’s hard to find one I haven’t already watched.

I’m waiting for my forest book to arrive so I can finish my letter for the wall. Apparently it’s coming via snail mail. Expected delivery July 14-29. What a long range.

Shopping has been put on standby since our showers are quickly approaching. I can’t help but sneak peeks at the registries and it’s so exciting to see stuff being bought up.

I’m waiting to wash up some hospital clothes for F until the showers in case we get some outfits that I like better.

I spoke to my boss and HR on Monday and looks like when I do come back to work it’ll be part-time which is really great. I honestly am starting to feel like going back is going to be a shock since I haven’t thought about PT stuff in 2 months and counting. Hope I don’t forget too much.

Baby has been getting the hiccups a lot this week. Several times a day and it’s really freaking cute. I’m excited to see him on ultrasound tomorrow. Feels like it’s been so long. I’m hoping he’s estimated to be 4+ pounds.

I stayed in bed until 11 today because why not. Getting up early just makes the day drag by painfully. I’m so down this week. Hopefully I can find some new projects.

One proud mama

So this happened today.

So happy and feel like it turned out perfect and just how I had hoped it would. Poor hubs had a little battle installing the ceiling hooks and he had to go buy another after one broke when installing it but overall it wasn’t that bad. Actually I think installing the pendant light may have taken longer. Little man gets to sleep under the trees every night. How awesome is that. In love.

31 weeks

31 weeks, 1 day

Baby is the size of a pineapple!

20 days until 34 weeks 🙂

I haven’t blogged in a while because I’ve been pretty busy working on some crafting projects and getting ready for the 4th.

Last week’s apppointment went well. Dr. L said that we no longer need to do ultrasounds to check the cervix because at this point it’s not that necessary and the risk of irritating the cervix by checking it is not warranted. He wanted to see me one more time at 32 weeks when we’ll check growth again and at that point if everything looks good he’ll be done with me. He said now our goal is just to check for contractions and if I’m in labor to stop it but that at 34 weeks if I go into labor they will no longer stop it. I asked about whether or not I should try to go back to work and he was not quick to say one way or the other. He said though me being as strict with the bed rest was not necessary he was afraid if I went back to work it would be 0 to 100% and may cause me to go into labor. He said he’d like to see me go full term if possible. It’s a difficult situation for me because I feel like if there is no medical reason for me not to work, then me not working is being selfish I guess. Eric is not pressuring me to go back to work at all though and feels like it would be best if I just wait. To make things worse, my paycheck on Friday was less than usual and so it means my maternity leave has already begun. Unfortunately, I’ve emailed work about how much PTO I have/when maternity leave will begin and for about 3 weeks now they haven’t been able to let me know though they say they’re working on it. I’m not sure what’s so confusing or what could be taking so long. There is a chance though that if my maternity leave runs out before the baby comes, I could potentially return part time to work until the baby comes and then go out on FMLA. I was afraid of doing that if maternity leave wasn’t exhausted b/c then it might mean I get 50% paid at my part-time salary instead of my full-time salary. Uhh…all of this is so confusing and I hate not knowing. However, these kind of worries are so much better than 7 weeks ago when I went on bed rest and was worried that baby would not survive or would have serious medical complications. Yes, there are still some risks we have to fight through but I feel a little more relieved every day knowing baby’s chances are pretty good. Dr. L said the next hurdle is 32 weeks where risk of brain bleeds goes dramatically down. Then we’ll aim for 34 weeks. 35 weeks would be great he said.

Today I had another appointment and they just checked for contractions and didn’t do an ultrasound so it went a lot quicker. My next appt is 10 days away though so it’s going to be a tough wait.

Yesterday hubby installed the door hooks so that I could finally hang my laundry hamper and I couldn’t be more happy with it. Here it is:

Here’s the pouf that I got from wal-mart – only $40 🙂

Here’s the picture layout I prepped using craft paper cutouts of the frames.  This is also assuming I use an 11 x 14 canvas portrait maternity photo in the center.  I’m thinking of getting the maternity photo done just after 34 weeks when I get my hair highlighted again.

Instead of buying a wooden F for the room which was going to cost at least $40 and I wasn’t completely happy with it either….I decided to make my own…out of cardboard.  I’ve already cut it out and taped together about 4 layers of cardboard to give it the appropriate depth.  Today I bought a cheap forest book from amazon and some mod podge which I’ll use to cover the letter.  I think it’ll probably end up going on the far wall over the crib near the window.  And in total it’ll cost about $12 to make.

I’ve been hard at work making loads of origami.  I made about 10 different animals and have made lots of leaves out of different shades of green origami paper.  Yesterday hubby found a good sized branch for me to hang the origami from.  Now I just have to figure out how to actually attack it.  Here are the animals after I did some painting.

This past weekend we finalized the shower date for July 27th which is just 3 weeks away…eek!  I don’t have time to purchase the expensive but totally cute invites I would prefer to get off of etsy, tinyprints, etc. so instead I bought some off of cvs which will be ready sometime today.  Here’s the design I ended up picking.

So with the shower approaching so quickly, I need to get busy finalizing my registries.  My mom has already bought about half the stuff from Babies R Us (silly mom…) so that means I need to find a way to add some more items.  E’s coworkers are also throwing us a shower on July 22nd which is so nice.  I’m excited to get all of the stuff F needs so that we’ll officially be ready for him.

Today I bought a necklace with baby’s name and also I signed us up for some classes so we’ll be very busy in August (assuming baby doesn’t make an early entrance).  I’m getting more and more confident that we’re going to make it!
